Description |
Rectangular metal and enamel car badge for a Jewett automobile. The Jewett was built by the Paige-Detroit Motor Car Co. from 1922-1926. The car was named after the company's president, H.M. Jewett. Embedded in the dashboard of every Jewett was an amulet, visible on the passenger side as a dash plate. Harry's wife was something of a spiritual list, and these amulets were purported to have mystical power that protected the occupants. The badge is 1 ½ X 2 ½". The background is white enamel with dark blue enamel letters in the center. The badge is edged in brass. Some crackling on the surface. Very good condition. Location: Museum storage or display. |
