Description |
Oval enamel and metal radiator emblem mounted on wood. Oakland was manufactured by the Oakland Motors Division of General Motors Corp. The company started with 2-cylinder engines and eventually introduced a V8 engine in 1916. This cap dates from 1916-1925. The slogan "True Blue Oakland" was used, inspired by the quick-drying bright blue automotive lacquer used on the cars. The emblem has a background of bright blue enamel with a white stripe of white enamel running lengthwise across the center. The name Oakland is in bright blue enamel letters. 2 ¾ X 1 ¾". Surface is scratched, enamel is cracked and chipped. Fair condition. Location: Museum storage or display |
