Brass and cloisonné Lincoln Continental Grille Emblem. 1942. The 1942 Continental was only in production a few months, and only 136 were produced due to the outbreak of WWII. It was the brainchild of Edsel Ford and Bob Gregorie. It was introduced in 1940 as an exclusive, luxurious, hand-crafted auto for the status conscious consumer. The emblem is a shield with a knignt's head and breastplate at the top. The shield itself has a red enamel cross, separating the tinctures. Two are white and dotted. The others are blue. The emblem is 3 3/8" tall. Excellent condition. Location: Museum storage or display |
